Chaffee council tables construction plans and liquor license; approves routine permits and bills

The Chaffee City Council on Sept. 3 handled several routine agenda items and deferred two proposals for further review.
Geoff Mirley, accompanied by Dewayne Scheaffer, presented construction plans for a building on Highway 77; after discussion the council tabled the matter to its Sept. 16 meeting. Separately, an off‑season liquor license application for The Signal event center at 113 S. Main St., introduced by Council member Steve Milz, was discussed and likewise tabled until Sept. 16.
The council approved a set of building permits (including a garage for Randy Sadler at 320 Dame St. and a privacy fence for Nick Swinford at 11932 St Hwy 77) on a motion by Steve Milz, seconded by Andy Sadler. The Judges report for Aug. 13, 2024, was approved on a motion by Mark Perkins, seconded by Steve Milz. The council also approved departmental monthly bills: Police Department $712.25 and Fire Department $528.92 (motion by Andy Sadler, seconded by Tara Golightly).
Where the minutes record votes, the council recorded motions as 'All in favor. Motion carried.' The minutes do not record dissenting votes or recorded abstentions. Several items were explicitly moved to the Sept. 16 meeting for further investigation or presentation.
