On July 6 the Forest Park City Council voted to adopt Ordinance 26-2026, authorizing the city manager to execute documents necessary to purchase and lease property located at 1880 Waycross Road and to approve modifications to the agreement; the ordinance was presented as aligning with the city's redevelopment goals and carried on a recorded roll-call vote.
"This ordinance authorizes the city manager or his designee to execute all necessary documents and take any actions required to complete the purchase and lease of the real estate as well as to approve any modifications to the agreement," a council member said before urging adoption and tying the acquisition to redevelopment initiatives.
The motion to adopt Ordinance 26-2026 passed by roll call with council members recorded as voting yes: Clark, Harrison, Holt, Sylvester, Adams and Brown (motion carries 6-0). The transcript records the roll-call affirmations for the motion.
Separately, the council adopted Resolution 26-2026, the city's 2027 tax budget, and agreed to submit it to the Hamilton County auditor. The finance department will deliver the budget before the legislative deadline; a council member noted this is an annual housekeeping item and the resolution must be passed before July 20.
The council also adopted Resolution 27-2026, approving a cooperation agreement with Hamilton County to continue participation in the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program; council members said the agreement formalizes partnership and program administration.
All three formal actions were recorded as carried during the July 6 meeting. The ordinance, described as an emergency measure in the meeting, moves the property purchase process forward; the budget and CDBG agreements ensure fiscal and program continuity with Hamilton County.
