Lindstrom — The City Council voted to adopt a strategic-plan summary for 2026 that staff says will guide council priorities, board assignments and implementation steps over the coming year.
Staff said the plan is the product of a January strategic session and includes three top goals with associated action steps and a Gantt chart. "What staff has requested tonight is just a formal adoption of the strategic planning summary," staff said, adding that the document will be distributed to boards and commissions so implementation tasks align across city bodies.
Several council members asked for clearer metrics and end points for certain tasks — for example, digitizing records is measurable while items such as "AI integration" may be open-ended. Staff noted the Gantt chart includes subtasks and suggested using recurring work sessions to track progress; staff also said some priority one items already have initiation steps underway.
A motion to adopt the plan was made and seconded; the council approved the plan and staff said it will return with periodic updates, Gantt revisions and implementation notes to keep council and commissions aligned.
