The City of Green Design Review Board recommended approval Aug. 7 of an internally illuminated pole sign for an RDL relocation project, after the applicant’s representative described materials, setbacks and landscaping plans.
"I'm Sue Sanford, and I'm here for RLD," the applicant representative said when presenting the request and describing the sign design, which she said will be mounted to a pole set in concrete with a pole cover to match the building’s aluminum finish and a polycarbonate face so the sign will be visible at night.
Board members confirmed the sign meets the board’s setback requirement and asked for specifics about materials and landscaping. The applicant said she will supply the sign and the lighting and that the property owner will be responsible for running electric to the sign. The applicant also described plans for low‑maintenance shrubs on each side of the sign.
The board accepted that the proposed sign would be "internally illuminated" rather than lit from the ground and discussed finish and color to ensure visual compatibility with the building. The board chair asked the applicant to maintain the sign’s appearance over time; the applicant said the sign and landscaping would be maintained by the property owner.
After discussion the board made a motion for a favorable recommendation to the Planning Commission for the sign as presented and voted in favor. The recommendation advances the applicant’s request to Planning Commission review.
