Council President Boyce introduced Ordinance 12-85-25 on first reading to amend the borough code’s fee schedule for the municipal golf course. The ordinance proposes a roughly 5% increase in fees and adds a new family membership category that covers two adults plus up to two juniors; the change distinguishes in-town and out-of-town rates. The council set a public hearing on the ordinance for the Borough Hall council chambers at 7:30 p.m. at the December meeting.
Boyce said the change responds to increased operating costs such as labor and fertilizer and noted the course has been profitable since the borough contracted outside management after 2020. “We’re making money,” Council President Boyce said when describing the course’s recent finances; he also said the management reported about 242 members, roughly a 50/50 split of in-town and out-of-town membership. Council members discussed fee comparisons with similar municipal courses and noted that moving to online tee-time management and other operational changes helped reduce downtime and increase revenue.
The ordinance was adopted on first reading and will return for final passage after the scheduled public hearing.
