The project’s estimated total cost is $558,008.37; the city agreed to participate up to a maximum of $265,940. Staff said the city already contributed $127,001.35 toward the required maximum city share for design work.
Councilmembers expressed strong support for the project, noting the signal’s safety benefits in allowing emergency vehicles to exit the station more reliably. A resident who said he had worked hurricane responses thanked the council for pursuing the signal. Council voted unanimously to approve the LFA and LAP resolutions.
Next steps: staff will execute the agreements with FDOT and continue design and CEI coordination; the city’s finance and grants staff will finalize accounting for the city share.
