City staff previews code updates, court fee increase and ordinance work for fall

Miss Rector, a city staff member, briefed the council on several upcoming municipal code amendments that staff intends to bring forward over the next months.
Rector said the council should expect a proposal in September to raise city court costs by $27.50 to better align with other municipal courts. She said stormwater ordinance amendments are in progress to adopt a Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation rule and that a more substantial overhaul of the alcoholic beverages code (including liquor provisions) is planned for October after updates to beer and wine sections. Rector also said the police department is reviewing potential animal code updates for an expected November timeline.
Rector invited council feedback and suggested staff can keep council more apprised or add items to the revision list based on member input.
