Briarcliffe Acres planning commission unanimously backs recommendation to adopt 2025 Comprehensive Plan Update

On Oct. 6, 2025 the Briarcliffe Acres Planning Commission adopted Resolution #PC2025.01 urging Town Council to consider and adopt the 2025 Comprehensive Plan Update, set a Council review on Oct. 20, scheduled a public hearing for Nov. 17, and noted a final ordinance reading on Dec. 15, 2025.
On Oct. 6, 2025, the Briarcliffe Acres Planning Commission voted unanimously to adopt Resolution #PC2025.01, recommending that Town Council consider and adopt the 2025 Comprehensive Plan Update.
The recommendation came during the commission’s workshop at Town Hall, where Vice Chairman Jim Cline moved the resolution and Commissioner Mik Musilunas seconded. Chairman James Battle presided; the motion passed unanimously with all members present voting in favor and Commissioner John Leiter recorded as absent.
The commission discussed the remaining schedule for the Update. Town Council is set to meet Oct. 20 to review the document and may either accept it, reject it, or provide further suggestions prior to the final ordinance reading currently scheduled for Dec. 15, 2025.
Town Clerk Jennifer B. Newbold said a Town Council public hearing will be held on Nov. 17 at 5:00 p.m. at Town Hall; the Planning Commission intends to attend to provide insight, comment and answer questions. The clerk will schedule and advertise the hearing, and a red-lined draft of the Update will be posted on the town website after Council reviews the draft and no later than the public hearing date.
No public input was shared during the Planning Commission session. With no further business, the commission adjourned at 6:12 p.m.
Next procedural steps: Town Council review on Oct. 20, the public hearing on Nov. 17, and the ordinance’s final reading on Dec. 15, 2025.
