Council postpones Pine Tree Lane stormwater work; resident funding may be required

Briarcliffe Acres council members revisited a stormwater project at the Pine Tree Lane cul-de-sac and agreed to postpone the work until the next fiscal year because ongoing construction, procurement requirements and funding constraints prevent immediate work. Council members said part of the project sits on private property and will require resident funding.

Mayor Dave Buonviri noted the project cannot proceed while nearby construction continues and while procurement and grant opportunities are pursued. He also said the town will seek grant funding and that procurement steps must be completed before work can begin.

Councilmembers Brian McIntyre and Brian Palliser said they reconciled their road-repair lists and will obtain revised estimates to add sections of Cedar Lane and Center Drive to repair plans. They said a meeting will be scheduled with the City of Myrtle Beach Water/Public Works to inspect a persistent leak on South Gate Road and Center Drive; residents also raised concerns about a leak under the pavement on South Gate Road and the North Gate extension during the public-comment period.

The council did not vote to fund the Pine Tree Lane work at the workshop; instead, members postponed action pending budget availability, procurement completion and potential resident contributions for the private-property portion of the scope. The town did not specify dollar amounts or grant sources at the workshop.
