Briarcliffe Acres to finalize Pet Ordinance after Civic Plus review delay

Councilwoman Laura Pendley said the town’s review of a proposed Pet Ordinance was delayed after employee turnover at Civic Plus, the vendor conducting the legal review, and that the change log included a misinterpretation of the contract. She said the council will finalize Pet Ordinance decisions at the scheduled Town Meeting.

The delay, Pendley said, stems from personnel changes within Civic Plus during the review process; she described the issue as an administrative delay rather than a policy change. Pendley also said she is arranging for the ordinance language and the vendor’s revised comments to be available at the Town Meeting so council members and the public can review the final text before a vote.

The council’s workshop agenda listed no New Business and did not include a formal motion or vote on the Pet Ordinance; Pendley presented status and next steps and directed staff to place the ordinance on the Town Meeting agenda for final action. The Town Clerk’s minutes note that the Pet Ordinance decisions will be finalized at that forthcoming meeting.
