County proposes replacement of multiple county bridges; several projects will close roads temporarily

S2 told the committee that the bridge increases reflect both preservation needs and new replacement projects. Notable new projects the executive recommended include:
- Burnt Hill Road bridge (replacement over Little Bennett Creek, Clarksburg): full road and bridge closure to vehicular traffic during construction, scheduled for FY29 with traffic detoured. - Green Tree Road bridge (replacement over Bulls Run, Bethesda): road and bridge will remain open during construction. - Park Bridge improvements and the Parklawn entrance bridge (Rock Creek, Rockville): new projects that will require temporary trail relocations during construction; the Parklawn replacement is scheduled in the CIP for later years. - Valleywood Drive bridge (over Joseph's Branch, Wheaton): will be closed to traffic during construction from June 2028 to September 2028. - Zion Road bridge (replacement over Hollings River, Brookville): road and bridge closed during construction in FY30 and FY31. - Brookville Road bridge: scope changed from rehabilitation to full replacement due to CSX freight rail track complications; S3 noted the change in scope and cost implications.
Council members asked about timing and coordination with nearby projects such as the Purple Line and MD-97 work. S3 said Brookville is scheduled for FY28 and that sequencing and pedestrian access during construction will be important but details are not yet finalized.
Council staff recommended approving the bridges subcategory as presented; the committee moved and accepted the staff recommendation without objection.
