Utility board approves $1.17 million contract for West Columbia water and sewer work

The Weatherford Municipal Utility Board on Monday approved a construction contract with Patcon Services LLC to replace water and wastewater lines on the 1 to 600 block of West Columbia Street.

Bill Smith, presenting the project for staff, said the scope includes about 3,800 feet of water‑line replacement and about 3,000 feet of wastewater‑line replacement along West Columbia and several side streets. He told the board the city received multiple bids and that Patcon’s was the lowest responsive bid. "The scope of the project includes about 3,800 feet of water line replacement, about 3,000 feet of wastewater line replacement," Smith said.

Smith said the construction window is approximately seven to eight months, and that work will be coordinated with franchise utilities before public works repaves the street. The contract amount approved by the board is not to exceed $1,165,737.49; staff said the aggregate fiscal year expenditure for related utility projects is $2,961,785.

Lindsey Hester moved to approve the contract as presented; Kim Davis seconded. The board voted to approve the item.

The city will pay the contract from utility rate funds, and staff said they will coordinate scheduling with other utilities and follow established permitting and inspection processes. No additional conditions or amendments were recorded in the minutes.

The board moved next to other agenda items; staff said construction scheduling and coordination will follow the city's standard process and that public notification will occur before work begins.
