Several residents and organized-club members attended the Hasbrouck Heights council meeting on April 22 to press for reopening of a pistol range and to seek updates on a swim-club audit.
George "Chip" Armonaitis asked the council for an update on the swim-club board audit. Borough Attorney Mark DiPisa told the council the audit is ongoing and that there would be a closed session to discuss any negotiations; Mayor Ron Kistner said no action would be taken following the closed session.
Bujor Radu, a member of the local Pistol & Rifle Club, told the council the club has maintained the facility and asked when the pistol range would reopen to the public. "It was closed due to an incident that had nothing to do with the rifle & pistol club," Radu said. Jim Giarratano, also speaking for the club, urged reopening. The transcript records that seven club members attended the meeting in support of reopening. Mayor Kistner said there were no current discussions about reopening and offered no timeline.
No formal action to reopen the range or to change the swim-club status was recorded during the meeting. The council authorized a closed executive session for matters including pending litigation and contract negotiation; the mayor indicated no immediate public action would follow that session.
