The director said a complete replacement could be a multi‑million‑dollar project; media reports cited a bracket as high as $4 million to $10 million and staff acknowledged ranges remain preliminary until final design is complete. Staff said insurance was not expected to cover the damage and the city must identify capital funds or other sources to cover the permanent repair.
Motion and vote: Councilman Salvatore moved to approve the $310,000 transfer into the public buildings maintenance and repair account from the public safety employees benefits account; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
