City of Delaware receives Auditor of State award; finance director Robert Alger honored for 31 years

The Delaware City Council on Jan. 12 accepted the Auditor of State Award with Distinction and honored longtime finance director Robert Alger for 31 years of public service. Paul Bright introduced Scott Brown of the Ohio Auditor of State’s office, who presented the award and read a proclamation recognizing Alger’s career.

"My name is Scott Brown and I serve Auditor of State Keith Faber as his Central Ohio liaison," Brown said while describing the award and noting that roughly 4% of entities audited statewide meet the criteria for the distinction. He told council the designation recognizes a clean audit report with no findings for recovery, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies or uniform guidance findings.

The auditor’s presentation singled out the city’s finance department and Alger "for his leadership, professionalism, and exceptional commitment to fiscal integrity." Council members and city staff congratulated Alger and thanked the finance team for the work required to earn the recognition.
