The chief outlined the training timeline: Gonzalez is tentatively scheduled to attend the National Police Academy in mid‑August for a 16‑week session, followed by about 12 weeks of in‑house field training. The chief said the department expects Gonzalez to be on solo patrol roughly March or April after completing both academy and local training. “So it’s about an 8 to 9 month process from start of hire to solo patrol status for an officer,” the chief said.
Board members and staff took photographs and welcomed Gonzalez to the community. Gonzalez offered brief thanks during the ceremony.
