Howard County Council reads confirmations and bills to set up inspector general positions and disclosure requirements

The council administrator read seven resolutions confirming appointments and reappointments to county boards and commissions, including Edward Coleman to the Alcoholic Beverage Hearing Board; Thomas P. Juarez to the Commission on Disabilities; reappointments of Alicia Altamirano and Santiago Carrara to the La Alonza Latina Commission; and reappointments of James Cecil and Barbara Mosher to the planning board and Steven L. Towne to the Commission on Disabilities.
Separately, three council bills (6–8), introduced by Deb Young, would establish the Inspector General position in the county classification and pay plans and add the Inspector General Advisory Board to the list of boards required to file financial disclosure statements under Howard County Code §22.206(c). The council administrator read Bill 6 as an amendment to the classification plan to create the class code, pay grade, qualifications and duties for the inspector general and deputy inspector general; Bill 7 as an amendment to the pay plan to provide pay scales; and Bill 8 to add the advisory board to financial disclosure requirements.
No votes were recorded during the introductions. The administrator indicated the items were introduced and scheduled for follow‑up procedures (public hearing Jan. 21 and a possible work session Jan. 27). Miss Walsh closed and adjourned the session.
