Administration told the Transportation Connectivity & Stormwater Committee it will provide additional information on contingency amounts before the council votes on final adoption.
Transportation Committee members raised the need to determine whether the contract should include a contingency and, if so, how much, and the administration agreed to return with that detail at the next meeting. The committee noted that detour planning and scheduling will be addressed as bids are awarded and the construction timeline is finalized.
Also related to corridor planning, the committee discussed companion work to extend Southwood Drive (dedication plat R16) and an associated contract request (R20) for Southwood Drive Phase 2; administration requested second‑reading passage for R20 so the road‑extension work can progress in coordination with the corridor improvements.
Committee materials presented an engineer’s estimate for Arlington of about $13.886 million and a low bid under that estimate; the committee asked the administration to clarify contingency treatment before a final vote.
