The ad hoc committee discussed the Reparations Commission’s request to extend commissioners’ terms and confirmed that it will recommend a two‑year extension, through June 30, 2026, to the full Alameda County Board of Supervisors.
Deborah, the commission chair, confirmed the extension was the commission’s original request. Committee members noted the ad hoc committee had previously approved sending the extension to the full Board and that the formal action will be placed on the Board agenda for final approval in August. Committee members also said commissioners who do not wish to continue their service can submit resignation letters and vacancies will be filled through the usual appointment process.
The committee recorded the extension discussion for the public record and indicated the extension will be memorialized in a board letter and included with the other actions the committee forwarded to the full Board for approval.
