Public safety committee declines to request state hearing on Maslin Road liquor-license transfer

The City of Greene public safety committee reviewed a transfer application (TMP-4724) for a D1/D2 liquor license for Mama Lupe LLC at 4195 Maslin Road (the Dollar General plaza) and agreed not to request a state hearing.
Chair Mister Davidis explained the application is a transfer for economic-development purposes from Empress Court Incorporated in Chagrin Falls to Mama Lupe LLC. He told the committee the council does not grant or deny liquor licenses directly; instead, it can request a hearing before the state liquor authority if there are concerns. Davidis said he had not heard any issues from the public or from the sheriff's office and indicated no committee objection to allowing the transfer to proceed without a local hearing. "I would have no issue moving forward with this Trex transfer application if the committee and counsel is in concurrence," he said.
Mrs. Babbitt agreed and stressed that when a transfer later presents a license-to-transfer, the normal process and sheriff reports would be required. Davidis said the committee will make a motion at the regular council meeting to not hold a hearing.
What happens next: The committee will recommend at the regular meeting that the council not request a state hearing on TMP-4724; the state process handles licensure details going forward.
