Council members thanked planning and Department of Environmental Protection staff and resident advocates for extensive engagement during the 13-month process. The council chair noted the regulation is one step in a larger effort to meet county climate goals, including the aim cited in the meeting of an 80% reduction in county carbon emissions and eventual elimination by 2035.
The council conducted a voice/hand vote and the chair announced the result as unanimous in favor; no formal roll-call tally was recorded in the public remarks. Councilmembers said they appreciated the committee’s deliberations and staff’s work on technical details and stakeholder outreach.
