At its regular meeting on Feb. 10, 2025, the Preston Board of Education approved a revised 2025–26 school calendar, adopted two revised policies on student technology use and accepted the consent agenda. Motions to approve each item were seconded and recorded as unanimous.
The board moved to accept the consent agenda as presented (moved by Courtney Ennis; seconded by Nicole Serra). Later, the board approved a revised calendar for 2025–26 (moved by Ennis; seconded by Serra). As adopted, Feb. 18, 2025, remains a built‑in snow day and the previously built‑in May snow day will be removed so school will be in session on May 23, 2025. The board also approved revised Policy 5131.81 (Students: Personal Technology Use in Schools/Cellular Phones/Wearable Electronic Communication Devices) on a motion by Ennis and second by Serra, and approved Policy 6141.4 (Instruction: Responsible Computer, Network and Internet Use) on a motion by Nicole Serra and second by Dan Harris. All motions were recorded as unanimous in the minutes.
Superintendent Dr. Roy Seitsinger and Director of Finance Cindy Varricchio were present for the discussion; the meeting record notes that several board members were excused or absent. The board did not record roll‑call voting by individual member names in the minutes; the meeting attendance list was used to determine quorum and the minutes state the outcomes as unanimous.
No additional amendments or contingency conditions were recorded for these votes. The board adjourned at 8:13 p.m. on a motion by Courtney Ennis and second by Dan Harris.
What happens next: the approved calendar and policies will be posted with district documents and incorporated into operational planning for the 2025–26 year; the Business Office continues work on the FY26 budget and will bring related finance items to committee meetings for review.
