Developer Lenny Lebenhout and operator Rob Keeferiter presented their pickleball park proposal on June 10 and answered committee questions about timeline, staffing and local procurement. Keiferiter said the facility will include multiple pickleball courts, social amenities and some indoor basketball courts and is expected to draw regional tournaments.
Economic development staff reported the developer intends to invest approximately $11,400,000 in the property, forecast revenue of about $618,000 across a six‑year tax‑deferral period, and described a proposed six‑year tax deferral schedule (0% in years 1–2; 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% in years 3–6). Staff also said the base assessment will continue to be taxed and that the deferment would apply only to increased assessment above base.
Committee members asked about local hiring and outreach; the developer said opening employment would be between 30 and 40 positions spanning service, instruction and operations. After discussion the committee moved and seconded the agreement and voted to forward it to the full City Council for final approval.
Next steps: the agreement will be considered by the full council at the next meeting; the developer said construction is expected to start late summer and operations to begin next summer.
