The Howard County Alcoholic Beverage Hearing Board unanimously approved Oct. 22 the transfer of a Class B beer, wine and liquor on‑sale license to Sushi King Restaurant Corporation as part of a corporate restructuring.
Attorney Mel Kudinski said the change reflects internal corporate restructuring: two long‑time employees are becoming licensees while others remain stockholders. "They've been working here 26 to, and with 25 to 26 years," Kudinski told the board when introducing witnesses.
Jane Chi Shing Huang, sworn as a witness, told the board she has worked at the restaurant for about 26 years and said she is now a stockholder and manager. Huang said alcohol sales account for a small share of the business, estimating roughly 3–5% of sales, and stated that the operation, menu and staffing would remain essentially the same. Board members confirmed there had been no reported violations during Huang's tenure.
Another witness, identified in the record as Bamboo Sheng Chang, testified the restaurant’s operations would remain steady and that staff are alcohol‑awareness certified. The restaurant’s seating capacity was described as about 80.
Board members said the transfer appeared routine given the applicants’ long experience and the absence of violations, then moved to approve the transfer. The applicants waived their right to appeal at the hearing.
The board's approval transfers the Class B license to Sushi King Restaurant Corporation; administrative follow‑through will complete the license record.
