Mayor reminds residents of green electric opt-out deadline, announces trail opening and community events

In his report to council the mayor reminded residents that April 9 is the deadline to initially opt out of the city's green electric aggregation for those who wish to choose a different supplier; residents may opt out later but transitions can take one to two months based on meter readings. The mayor also said the green aggregation rate through "Dyna g" will increase to 9.69'cents per kilowatt-hour in June.
The mayor announced several community events: a Goodwill retail ribbon-cutting April 9 at 3656 Maslin Road (9 a.m. to noon); an annual breakfast with the bunny and Easter egg hunts on April 19 (ticketed); a new adult Easter egg scramble on April 18 at Central Park; an Arbor Day ribbon-cutting and the first Willowdale Trail hike on April 25 with tree plantings and a public volunteer effort to plant about 100 saplings; and a cybersecurity and scam-prevention seminar on April 28 hosted by Law Director Lisa Kerry Dean with presenters from the Summit County Sheriff's Office and private counsel.
The mayor also announced a business-focused legislative-update event on May 1 called "Bringing Columbus to You," featuring state legislators and targeted to local businesses and community leaders.
