Stronach board approves consent agenda, personnel raise and lawn-care contract

The Township of Stronach board approved several routine and personnel actions at its April 8, 2026 meeting held in Manistee County.
Mr. Vadeboncoeur, who called the meeting to order, presided as the board voted to accept the consent agenda, which included the Jan. 14, 2026 minutes, the treasurer’s report and the month’s bills. The motion was made by Mr. Lindeman and seconded by Ms. Zoscsak; the board voted unanimously in favor.
The board also approved a reimbursement for Chief Lapointe’s food and mileage expenses related to attending a required Fire Chief Certification Course. The motion to reimburse was made by Mr. Vadeboncoeur and seconded by Mr. Skiera; roll-call voting recorded all members voting yes.
During a 90-day personnel review, Lori Gerber, clerk, moved and Mr. Skiera seconded a pay increase for Phil Skiera to $20 per hour; the board voted unanimously to approve the raise.
On procurement, three bids were submitted for lawn care and leaf removal services. The board voted (motion by Mr. Lindeman, second by Ms. Zoscsak) to accept the bid from Cornerstone Lawn Maintenance; roll call: all in favor.
Other operational items recorded in the minutes included direction for the fire department to place an advertisement to sell a surplus 1991 International F4900 apparatus (the vehicle’s compromised water tank would cost more to replace than the current market value), and scheduling updates: a railroad crossing presentation is set for May 13 and an MMR Ambulance Service presentation for June 10. The organizational meeting was moved from May 27 to May 20, and the budget meeting from June 24 to June 23.
The board adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
