Task force moves toward tree-inventory grant discussions after ordinance review

Vice-Chair Aubrey Binder reported researching municipal public-tree ordinances (citing Sedalia as an example) and suggested the task force consider language or practices that could apply in Warrensburg. Chair Suzy Latare said she attended a Grow Native webinar and will share resources with the group. Members agreed to begin cost-share grant discussions in March with the Missouri Department of Conservation to pursue funding for a tree inventory, maintenance, professional development and tools.
No ordinance changes or grant applications were finalized at the Jan. 14 meeting; the task force set follow-up steps to develop an application or proposal and gather additional information from model ordinances and webinar materials.
