Public commenters urge support for gas sales tax and local projects, and oppose BusPatrol contract

Several members of the public signed up to speak during the meeting’s two public-comment segments, addressing resolutions on the agenda and other local concerns.
During public comment on resolutions currently before the Legislature, Alex Pantea of Dutchess County spoke against Resolution No. 180 (the BusPatrol America contract). Manna Jo Greene of Rosendale addressed Resolution No. 171 (the County’s SEQRA action for a solar project at the Government Operations Center) and also commented on the Ulster County Community College roof project. Three other commenters — Joseph Caserto, Patricia Haidaoui and Daniel King — spoke in favor of Resolution No. 233, which elects a cents-per-gallon sales-tax rate on motor fuel; that resolution was later adopted 21–2.
In general public comment later in the meeting, speakers including Marie Beichert, Manna Jo Greene, Jennifer O’Donnell and Patricia Haidaoui urged support for the Reuner House (a local preservation effort) and raised local concerns such as county waste-management contracts (UCRRA/Global NRG). The legislators on the dais recorded the comments in the official minutes; no formal votes were taken as a direct result of the public comments during the meeting.
