Tustin adopts SB 707-related technology disruption and public participation policies

TUSTIN — The City Council voted to adopt two policies required by state Senate Bill 707: a technology disruption policy addressing audio/remote-meeting interruptions and a public participation/outreach plan to encourage inclusion of underrepresented communities.
Staff explained SB 707’s timeline and requirements, noting the council must act by July 1, 2026. Councilmember Gallagher called the measure straightforward and said the city is aligning local code with the new state requirements: “We’re responding to state legislation and aligning our code with this law,” Gallagher said.
Mayor said the city has been a leader locally in meeting access before, during and after the COVID‑era changes and that the new policies will not substantially alter current practice in Tustin.
Council approved the item by roll call; the motion carried unanimously.
