TUSTIN — The City Council voted unanimously to award the construction contract for Legacy Park Phase 1, a project that will refurbish park landscaping, walking trails and areas around a flood-control detention basin.
Public Works Director Mike Rizzo said the work is funded in part by a $750,000 earmark from Claudia Petrie Norris’s office to replant and refurbish existing park infrastructure. The project focuses on trail work, replanting around the dog park and improving areas adjacent to the detention basin that manages flood control for the legacy area.
Councilmember Gallagher praised staff for hitting the engineer’s estimate and noted favorable bid results. “I think it was $685,000 was the engineer's estimate...the bid results were phenomenal as well,” Gallagher said.
Council approved the contract by roll call (5–0). Staff said project plans are available at the Public Works engineering counter for residents seeking details.
Construction timing, contractor coordination and specific funding expenditures were not enumerated in the presentation; staff indicated more detailed cost and scheduling information will follow procurement.
