Members of the Vision Committee told the Select Board on July 6 they plan to order and install framed photographs celebrating town residents, artists and local personalities in existing display frames around West Stockbridge.
The committee said the initial order of prints will likely be placed next week and that placement will prioritize town-owned property and visible locations near town hall. A committee member said some costs would be covered personally this year while the group works out a longer-term budget or asks the town for assistance.
In the same meeting the board discussed pursuing a seasonal community grant. Chair (S1) said the application is due Aug. 3 and proposed a joint meeting of the housing trust, planning board and the select board to draft and finalize the application, with regional planning assistance available; the board agreed to try to assemble quorums of the three bodies for a single session to expedite the process.
Why it matters: The photo displays are intended as a community-visibility project that requires modest funding and coordination. The seasonal community grant could provide a larger funding opportunity for town planning and housing-related projects if the joint meeting and application move forward quickly.
