High Bridge adopts Center Street capital-improvement ordinance and approves bid for the project

The High Bridge Borough Council on April 24 adopted Ordinance 2024-012, a capital-improvement measure enabling work on Center Street and various road improvements, and approved an associated bid award for the Center Street improvement project as part of a six-item consent agenda.
During the public hearing on the ordinance, Councilman Silvestri described the ordinance’s intent and Mayor Michele Lee said the Center Street work will be paid for with grant funds. The council opened and closed the hearing and then adopted Ordinance 2024-012 on a roll-call vote of 6–0.
Later in the meeting the council approved a consent agenda that included Resolution 147-2024, the award of bid for the Center Street Improvement Project; the consent agenda was approved by roll-call vote (6 yes), which enacted the listed resolutions in a single motion. Other consent-agenda items addressed lead-safe certification contractor selection (Resolution 145-2024), a self-examination of the 2024 budget (Resolution 146-2024), golf rates (Resolution 148-2024), a request for an NJDOT extension for multiple avenue projects (Resolution 149-2024), and updated utility rates and fees (Resolution 150-2024).
The council provided no detailed spending breakdown in the hearing beyond the statement that grant funds will cover the Center Street project. The ordinance will be published in the Hunterdon Review and/or the Hunterdon County Democrat with a public-hearing date previously announced for May 9, 2024 for other introduced ordinances. The approval of the bid moves procurement for the Center Street project forward under the terms recorded in Resolution 147-2024.
