Henry Hudson board accepts resignation, approves minutes and routine consent items

The Henry Hudson Regional PK-12 Board of Education on Jan. 21 accepted the resignation of Atlantic Highlands board member Cory Wingerter, approved prior meeting minutes and approved routine consent-agenda items covering financial, personnel and curriculum matters.
The motion to accept the resignation of Cory Wingerter was moved by Justin Thomas and seconded by Claire Kozic; roll call recorded six yes votes and no votes were recorded. The board also approved minutes from Dec. 17, 2025 (regular and executive) and the Jan. 5, 2026 reorganization meeting; that motion was moved by Rich Colangelo, seconded by Sue Thomas, and passed by a 6–0 roll call.
Separately, the board unanimously approved a resolution recognizing January 2026 as School Board Recognition Month in Monmouth County; Mrs. Kozic moved the resolution and Mr. Thomas seconded (roll call 6–0). The consent agenda — introduced and moved by Rich Colangelo and seconded by Rob Fierro — included statistical reports, HIB findings, curriculum approvals, field trips and professional development, business-administrator items and personnel actions. Where the record shows roll-call tallies, votes were recorded as 6–0.
Key business items approved under the business administrator’s consent agenda included bills and claims for January 2026 totaling $2,055,298.17, December investment interest entries, board secretary reports and reconciliation, and proposed non-resident tuition rates for 2026–27 (elementary $9,922; middle $11,880; high school $14,885). The board also approved tuition contracts for individual out-of-district placements with prorated costs recorded on the agenda.
The board moved and recorded multiple personnel approvals, including leaves of absence (SMIDs and dates listed in the agenda), extra-curricular stipends, and after-school intervention programs funded by Title I and district funds. Those personnel and superintendent consent items passed on a recorded roll call.
Next steps: the board will post vacancies and follow its policy process for replacing the resigned member and will continue to bring administrative items to future meetings.
