The East Palo Alto Rent Stabilization Board unanimously adopted an amendment to Section 600e, the registration requirement triggered upon a change in ownership, at its June 10 meeting.
Staff introduced the item as a second reading, noting the board passed the first reading on April 8 and that minimal changes had been made since. "Staff are bringing back the item for the 2nd reading before the board — the amendment to 600e registration upon change in ownership," a staff member said.
A board member moved to adopt the amendment and another member seconded. After the board confirmed there were no public comments and no further questions, the board voted in favor. Chair Larson and all present board members voted yes; the motion carried.
Board members thanked staff and the rules and regulations committee for drafting the change. "Thanks to staff and the rules and regs committee for drafting this," one board member said, describing the amendment as an opportunity to improve tenant education and awareness.
The meeting record does not specify the ordinance or resolution number for the amendment. Staff said they will return with updates at the next meeting as needed.
