Premier Lakes reports algae and quieter compressor; board delays plantings at Lake E4‑A pending Edgewater agreement

Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes updated the River Ridge Board on lake conditions, saying lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are in generally good condition though seasonal algae growth was observed. Kurth said a palm by Lake E7A shoreline was removed and plantings are scheduled in the near future.

Kurth reported that a cabinet installed around the Masters Lake compressor reduced measured sound from 64 to 52 decibels at a midpoint between the compressor and the screen line; he said that level is acceptable in his view. Operations Manager Shane Willis noted the issue is not only decibel level but the tone of the aerator and recommended further consideration of relocating the compressor. Kurth and Willis will coordinate with Alex Kurth and report back at the next meeting.

Board Member Bob Schultz summarized flooding and littoral planting concerns in Edgewater and recommended a meeting with the Edgewater representative to find an acceptable solution. The board reached consensus not to plant Canna lilies and placed the Lake E4‑A plantings on hold until an agreement with the Edgewater Condo Association (through Cambridge Management) is reached.

Willis also presented the Annual Quality Assurance audit for lake maintenance and dry retention areas, reporting high water levels this year but no compliance issues; he said next year’s audit will be conducted earlier. The Board reviewed an estimate from MRI Construction (Estimate #C060‑24) for a Type 9 inlet top at Pinehurst priced at $10,692.88 to keep debris from blocking the structure; staff noted a second proposal is being sought and the item will remain on the agenda for further consideration.

No binding decisions to contract for lake work were made at the meeting; follow‑up reports and proposals will return to the Board.
