Residents report persistent Pinehurst drainage; board directs engineer to inspect

Resident Shari Perkins told the River Ridge Community Development District Board on July 23 that, a week after a pipe was plugged, water is still overflowing in the triangle monument area at Pinehurst and a retention pond between River 8 and River 9 appears nearly 1 foot above the outflow.
The report prompted questions from the board about whether there is photo or video evidence. Perkins said she would provide photographs and video showing water accumulating over the drain. A board member asked specifically about footage of water bubbling out of the inlet.
District Engineer John Baker described the prior condition: water from one system had been flowing through the pipe into a lower system. Plugging the inlet removed the pushing action, but Baker said that without an outlet the situation behaves like "a very tiny pond in a pipe." He recommended additional study and emphasized the value of photos and video to diagnose the issue.
District Manager Chuck Adams explained that the pipes in question run between two houses, across the street and the golf course, and ultimately drain into the Estero River.
The board directed staff to have the District Engineer view the drainage area firsthand and asked Perkins to provide the video and photographs to CDD staff. No formal motion to fund repairs was taken; the engineer will report findings and the item remains on the agenda for further action.
The next procedural step is the District Engineer’s inspection and a staff follow‑up at a future meeting.
