Danbury City’s Board of Awards voted to purchase two Camas Avenger ARN 1,500 boilers from McKinney Mechanical for Danbury High School at a cost of $96,020, Purchasing Agent Chipotle said.
Chipotle said the requisition from the public buildings department was for furnishing the two boilers only; installation was not included in the purchase order. “This proposal is for furnishing only of the 2 boilers. No installation yet,” Chipotle said. The purchasing agent told the board the units are specialized, require manufacturer‑specific configuration and factory‑authorized start up, and that buying the boilers from McKinney, which will later perform installation, will help preserve warranty and avoid responsibility gaps between supplier and installer.
A staff member (speaker 4) moved to award the boilers to McKinney Mechanical; Finance Director Dan Garrett seconded. The staff member described ongoing issues with the existing units in the G wing and said the replacement was intended to avoid future failures. Board members voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously.
The purchase covers supply of the boilers only; the timeline and vendor responsibilities for installation and start‑up will be scheduled separately and were not specified in the meeting. The board adjourned after the item.
