Vienna council approves lot consolidation at 244 Old Courthouse Road NE

The Vienna Town Council unanimously approved on Feb. 3 a final plat to consolidate two parcels at 244 Old Courthouse Road Northeast into a single RS-16 lot, clearing the way for a proposed new single-family home on the combined lot.
Planning Director David Levy introduced new principal planner Lindsay Cluard, who explained the application from property owners Jamil Abdel Aziz and Sana Basharat Hussain. Cluard said the proposed consolidation of parcels 0391120049A (Lot 49A) and 0391120050 (Lot 50) would eliminate a nonconforming lot condition and meet RS-16 zoning and the town's comprehensive-plan designation of low-density residential. Fairfax County property records show the original home was built in 1960 with an addition in 1977.
Cluard noted the Planning Commission reviewed the proposal on Jan. 22 and voted 5–0 to recommend approval. Council member Springsteen moved to approve the consolidation; the motion was seconded and the clerk polled the council. Each council member voted 'Aye' and Mayor Colbert declared the motion passed.
The ordinance and the consolidation are subject to the town's zoning ordinance timelines; staff reminded the council that the town must act within the 60-day statutory period referenced in the zoning code as noted in the staff presentation. The council did not attach additional conditions to the approval at the Feb. 3 meeting.
