Latare said she had heard perspectives from many residents and wanted clearer numbers on costs such as wear-and-tear (track use), restroom and elevator usage that had been considered in the fee decision. She said it would help to have "that set out clearly as yet another piece that has been publicly available for people for months to show that there is a fiscal impact to allowing someone to use the facility for free," and named seniors, people experiencing homelessness and middle-school-aged youth as examples of groups affected.
City Manager Schrage and Management Analyst Venvertloh agreed staff would gather the previously provided documentation and attempt to pull any relatively easy-to-gather quantifications before a future meeting. Schrage said staff would first compile the existing information and then advise the council how much further staff time would be needed if more extensive analysis were requested.
The council did not direct an immediate budget allocation for additional analysis; staff-level follow-up was described as the next step.
