Josh Cutts, trustee of the Truckee Meadows Firefighters Association Local 2487, delivered a longer tribute that traced Kettering’s career from the Nevada Division of Forestry through roles with Sierra Fire Protection District and ultimately his leadership as deputy chief with Truckee Meadows. Cutts told the board the membership stood on "the shoulders of the work Chris did decades ago."
Chief Edwards and other colleagues offered remarks praising Kettering’s quiet leadership and mentorship. Kettering, speaking in first person, reflected on his career, thanked family members and colleagues and urged continued teamwork within the organization: "TM is one organization... When we come together as one, success always follows," he said.
