Police chief recommends $1 raise for trainee after $20,000 grant; council authorizes auction of two patrol vehicles

Police Chief Susie Snyder told the Krotz Springs Mayor and Board of Aldermen on Feb. 11 that trainee Dillon Porche is ready to operate solo and recommended a $1.00 hourly raise. Chief Susie Snyder also reported the police department received a $20,000 grant.
The board unanimously approved a separate motion to advertise sealed bids for two surplus police vehicles. Alderman Larry Martinez moved the motion, Alderman Craig Burghdoff seconded it, and the motion carried by unanimous vote. The items are a 2009 Tahoe with 156,109 miles (minimum bid $2,000) and a 2007 Crown Victoria with 110,000 miles (minimum bid $1,000). Sealed bids must be received at Town Hall, 224 Main Street, Krotz Springs, LA 70750, by 6:30 P.M. on April 8, 2025.
Chief Susie Snyder also announced that officer Nolan Noel is scheduled for M-16 training Feb. 23–25, 2025; upon completion, Nolan Noel will be certified to provide in-house training for the department. The motions to approve personnel and equipment actions were carried unanimously by the board.
