The Clarkson Valley Board of Aldermen on Dec. 8, 2025, approved a special use permit allowing a roof-mounted solar energy system at 2254 Valley Road, the board announced after a public hearing. The board passed Resolution No. 25-06 by roll call vote, with five members voting yes and one member absent.
City Administrator and City Clerk Megan Eldridge read the notice of the public hearing and the text of Resolution 25-06 before the public hearing was opened by Mayor Sue McNamara. Applicant Zach Brda presented his request to the board. During the public comment period, Jessica Post (16484 Horseshoe Ridge Road) spoke in support of Mr. Brda’s proposal and in favor of using solar energy; Frances Babb (2001 Kehrsdale Court) also spoke in support and commented on the application process for solar panels and on energy backup.
The roll-call vote on Resolution 25-06 recorded yes votes from Aldermen Jeff Schweig, Andrew Low, Brock MacDonald, Lin Midyett and Tracy Nuelle; Alderman Courtney Birkel was absent. Mayor McNamara declared the resolution passed.
Earlier in the meeting the board amended the posted agenda to remove an item listed as the “East-West Gateway Grant Application.” Alderman Brock MacDonald moved to amend the agenda and Alderman Andrew Low seconded; the amendment passed by voice vote. The board then approved the amended agenda by unanimous voice vote.
The special meeting convened at 5:00 p.m., and the board adjourned at 5:16 p.m.
