Chaffee council OKs $43,001.75 in ARPA funds for MODOT repaving; water pump repair and administrator raise discussed

City Administrator Lee Horton told the council that MODOT plans two repaving segments: RT M Yoakum to Helen (city share $43,001.75, scheduled Jan. 2025) and RT A 5th St to S. Frisco (city share $56,561.15, scheduled Jan. 2026), for a combined city obligation of $99,562.90. Horton said $72,973.14 in ARPA funds remain available and proposed using $43,001.75 of those funds for the 2025 work. After discussion, Mark Perkins moved and Ryan Pobst seconded the motion to spend $43,001.75 of ARPA funds on the 2025 repaving; the council approved the motion.
Horton also reported a water department pump had failed, was removed and inspected, and was found to have a hole; he estimated repairs could be "upwards of $10,000." Horton said the remaining ARPA balance (after the repaving allocation) could be used to cover that repair. The transcript records discussion but does not show a subsequent formal vote authorizing repair expenditures at this meeting.
Separately, the council approved a pay increase for City Administrator Lee Horton, raising compensation from $25.50 to $27.50 per hour after a motion from Ryan Pobst and a second from Ron Davis.
The council adjourned after completing the agenda.
