The Chaffee City Council voted unanimously Oct. 21 to reallocate federal coronavirus-relief (ARPA) funds to repair Well 4, council members said.
City Administrator Lee Horton told the council the Layne Christensen Company provided a quote estimating the Well 4 pump repair at $45,724 and noted that any additional repairs discovered after an airlift and television survey would be quoted separately. Ron Davis moved to change the Rt M allocation of ARPA funds to pay for the repair; Mark Perkins seconded the motion and all present voted in favor.
The council did not record a detailed timetable for the repair in the meeting minutes. Horton presented the quote during the regular session as part of department business; no alternative funding sources were recorded in the minutes.
Next steps recorded in the minutes indicate staff will proceed with the procurement and repair process subject to any further quoting required after the airlift and TV survey.
