Superintendent Dr. Sandy Steggall provided the board with financial and facilities updates at the Clinton County R-III school board meeting on July 17.
Dr. Steggall reviewed revenue and expense reports for May 2024 and said district staff have discussed building cleaning and heating/air-unit issues with vendor P1; she said many HVAC units likely need replacement, though the minutes do not include replacement-cost estimates. She also presented two years of Aramark food-service data and stated the district has seen an approximate $40,000 operating loss since changing food-service providers; she described this as expected during the vendor transition and noted increased meal-option availability at the elementary and middle/high levels.
On budget matters, Dr. Steggall walked the board through a preliminary 2024–25 budget showing an estimated reserve balance of about 20.1% and projected revenues and expenses for Funds 1–4. She told the board that, because part of the district extends into Clay County, the deadline for the tax-rate hearing is Oct. 1 for the 2024–25 cycle.
Following the presentation, the board unanimously approved the 2024–25 Staff, Student/Parent, Curriculum and Professional Development handbooks as presented.
