Speaker 1 nominated a candidate for chair and, after a second, the board approved the nomination by roll call. Members then elected a vice chair and appointed Stan Pheasant to continue as board secretary. The board voted to retain the borough’s attorney (nomination for Chris Kocensa was moved and approved) and to continue the borough’s engineering contract with CME Associates, with Eric Robinson assuming the engineer role.
Eric Robinson introduced himself during the meeting: "My name is Eric Robinson. I work for CME Associates. I worked closely with Bruce for the past 20 some odd years. He recently retired, so I will be taking over his position. Been a licensed engineer since 2004," he said, adding he is familiar with Highland Park procedures.
Members also approved the recording secretary/board secretary arrangement and named Jan (Jen) as board coordinator. The board reviewed and approved the 2026 meeting calendar and designated its official newspapers and website posting as required by the Open Public Meetings Act.
Why it matters: The reorganization sets who will lead and staff the board for the coming year and confirms the consultants who will advise on land-use applications, engineering reviews and legal matters. Appointing a local engineering consultant and clearing the calendar allows the board to proceed with scheduled applications and reviews.
