Hurricane Escambia is in its third year. The official said the program aims to build “confidence, leadership, and real world emergency preparedness skills” among participants.
The camp accepts only 20 campers to keep groups small and provide close mentorship, the official said: “That means small groups, strong mentorship, and an incredible experience.” Because of that limited capacity, the official urged early applications.
Applications will be available at myescambia.com/hurricane and via a link shown on-screen. Paper applications can be picked up at the Escambia County Department of Public Safety at 6575 North W Street. The official reiterated that applicants must be residents of Escambia County and entering 7th–9th grade in the coming school year.
The official said the application window closes April 24 and that admissions are rolling, advising that earlier submissions improve chances of admission. The announcement ended with a brief thank-you from Emergency Management.
