Cayce council approves awards, honors Steve Brown and changes Wednesday meeting time to 6 p.m.

Cayce City Council used its Dec. 22 meeting to present civic and lifesaving awards, approve a memorial resolution and approve several routine items, each by unanimous roll call.
Mayor Elise Partin presented Whole Sole Awards and checks to SRO Daniel Green for creating the Police Department website and to Municipal Clerk Mendy Corder for her leadership on arts, events and revitalization work. The Lexington VFW Post 8738, represented by Junior Vice Commander Darren Wiseman and Post Commander Kirk Douglass, presented Life Saving Awards to Sgt. Brett Baker, MPSO Sean Sinnott and PSO Brandy Threet for providing lifesaving aid during a May 3, 2020 incident.
Council Member Tim James moved and Mayor Pro Tem James E. Jenkins seconded a resolution honoring Steve Brown; the motion was approved unanimously and the mayor read the resolution and presented it to Brown’s family while Gavin Brown thanked the council. The council also approved a Hospitality Tax application from the Cayce Arts Guild for the Holiday Market and approved committee-approved minutes; Council Member Tim James then moved, with Phil Carter seconding, to change the monthly Wednesday meeting time from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. citing public accessibility concerns; the motion passed unanimously.
There were no executive-session items listed on the agenda; the council adjourned at 5:42 p.m.
