Sharpsburg agrees on historic park sign design and will seek BZA variance for setback

At the Oct. 30 work session Mayor Russell Weaver updated the council on planned signage for the town’s historic park and said the town will schedule an appeal with the Board of Zoning Appeals for a variance to reduce the 75-foot minimum setback.
Council members reached general consensus on design: white lettering on a blue background with the town seal incorporated into the sign face. Weaver said he would try to have a template prepared before the BZA hearing so the board can review the proposed design along with the requested setback reduction.
The work session did not include a formal vote; the variance request will proceed through the BZA process. No construction timeline or contractor was specified during the meeting.
