Bids received Oct. 2 were $3,739.50 per month ($44,874 per year) from J&J, Inc., and $4,986.00 per month ($59,832 per year) from Apple Valley Waste; both bids included tipping fees and a 96-gallon toter for every residence. Council members said some areas of town make it difficult for residents to move wheeled toters to the street and that residents should have the option to continue using bags. With that operational preference in mind, council voted unanimously to approve the Apple Valley Waste contract.
